AN OIIDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 2-1(b) THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO ADMINISTRATION. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 2-1(b) be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />2-1. Department of public safety abolished; <br /> retention for fiscal planning <br /> and financial reporting purposes. <br /> <br /> (b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of <br />this section, the City Manager shall continue to designate <br />certain bureaus, divisions and offices of the city as being <br />within the department of public safety. Such designation shall <br />include all bureaus, divisions and offices as may now be or may <br />hereafter be required to fall under the general category of the <br />department of public safety by applicable federal or state laws <br />or regulations. The inclusion of such agencies as falling <br />under the general category of the department of public safety <br />shall be for fiscal planning and financial reporting purposes <br />only. <br /> <br /> 2.
