AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 30-201 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO THE PORTSMOUTH FIRE AND POLICE RETIREMENT SYSTEM. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 30-201 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 30-201. Composition. <br /> <br /> Membership in the system as of any date after June 30, <br />1967, shall consist of all the employees except those who had <br />attained their normal retirement date at date of employment, <br />and all former employees who were au any time members of the <br />sysEem and whose membership in the system had not been <br />terminated under the provisions hereof. Notwithstanding <br />any provision to the contrary, no employee who is hired or <br />re-hired on or after July 1, 1995, shall become a member of the <br />Portsmouth Fire and Police Retirement System. <br /> <br /> 2.
