26 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, TO REQUEST THE COMMONWEALTH TRANSPORTATION BOARD TO <br />DESIGNATE PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 64 AND INTERSTATE 664 AS THE <br />"HAMPTON ROADS BELTWAY." <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is believed that a designation of portions of <br />Interstates 64 and 664 as the "Hampton Roads Beltway" would <br />serve to further unite, promote and identify the area of <br />metropolitan Hampton Roads; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such unification and identification would greatly <br />enhance the opportunity of each of the cities of metropolitan <br />Hampton Roads to promote themselves and the area. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it does hereby call upon the <br />Commonwealth Transportation Board to designate as the "Hampton <br />Roads Beltway" those portions of Interstates 64 and 664 from <br />their point of intersection on the Peninsula in the City of <br />Hampton, Virginia, to their point of intersection at Bower's <br />Hill in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall forward a <br />true and certified copy of this resolution to the Commonwealth <br />Transportation Board for its immediate consideration. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on March 28, 1995. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
