The rates of fare established by this division shall be conspicuously posted in each <br />taxicab. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-135. Advance payment. <br /> <br /> Owners, operators and drivers of taxicabs may require the lawful fare to be paid in <br />advance before undertaking the transportation of any person. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-136. Multiple passengers. <br /> <br /> When two (2) or more passengers engage a taxicab to the same destination, the charge <br />shall be made as if the vehicle were hired by one (1) passenger. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-137. Returning charge. <br /> <br /> No returning charge shall be made by the owner or driver of a taxicab where the taxicab <br />was engaged in the city or the naval shipyard and the passenger discharged in the city or naval <br />shipyard. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-138. Receipts. <br /> <br /> The driver of any taxicab shall, upon request, deliver to the person paying the fare a <br />receipt in legible type or writing showing the date, amount of fare paid, the names of the owner <br />and of the driver and the taxicab's Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity number. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-139. Refusal to pay. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to pay the lawful fare required to be paid for <br />the use of a taxicab. <br /> <br />Sees. 37-140--37-160. Reserved. <br /> <br /> DIVISION 5. TAXIMETERS <br /> <br />Sec. 37-161. Required. <br /> <br /> No motor vehicle shall be operated as a taxicab without a taximeter. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-162. Use. <br /> <br /> Taximeters shall be in use at all times within the city limits when passengers are being <br />transported except when the taxicab is hired on an hourly basis or when the taxicab is engaged <br />within the city for a trip to a destination outside of the city. Such exceptions shall be entered on <br />the driver's manifest. <br /> <br /> 19 <br /> <br /> <br />
