Any manifest taken from the possession of the driver before it has been turned in to the owner of <br />the public vehicle shall be made available to the owner for copying, if requested, before being <br />used in any proceeding, civil or criminal <br /> <br />All information recorded on the manifest shall be recorded legibly in ink. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-38. Disposition of money, property left in cab. <br /> <br /> The driver or operator of a taxicab shall carefully preserve any money or other property <br />left in the vehicle by any passenger and shall promptly deposit the money or property with the <br />owner of the vehicle who shall deliver a receipt for same and file in writing a report to police <br />headquarters within twenty-four (24) hours. The owner shall keep the money or property at some <br />convenient point within the city where it may be called for by its owner. When the money or <br />other property has been identified and ownership properly established, it shall be promptly <br />delivered to its owner. Any property, whether money or other thing, which is not called for <br />within sixty (60) days, shall be disposed of according to law. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-39. Use of vehicle other than as a taxicab. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to use or operate a taxicab in the city for compensation <br />other than as permitted under this chapter. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-40. Use of shortest practicable route required. <br /> <br /> The driver of every taxicab shall operate the vehicle over the shortest practicable route <br />from the place of the beginning of the trip to the place of destination. <br /> <br />Sec. 37-41. Driver not to permit passengers to enter or leave on traffic side of Taxicab. <br /> <br /> No taxicab driver shall permit any passenger to enter or leave the public vehicle on a <br />public roadway by the left rear door, except on one-way streets when the vehicle is lawfully <br />stopped on the left side of the street for the purpose of taking on or discharging a passenger; nor <br />shall such driver permit any passenger to enter or leave the vehicle on a public roadway by the <br />right rear door, except when the vehicle is lawfully stopped on the right side of the street for the <br />purpose of taking on or discharging a passenger. <br /> <br />See. 37-42. Drivers not to remain on duty longer than thirteen (13) hours within any <br />twenty-four (24) hour period. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any driver of a public vehicle, while on duty, to drive a public <br />vehicle in the city for more than thirteen (13) hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period, which <br />when added to the time the driver has driven a public vehicle in any other city, would make an <br />aggregate of more than thirteen (13) hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period.
