1998-.36 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 12-69 <br />THEREFORE, PERTAINING TO FINANCE. <br /> <br /> BE 1T ORDAINED by the COuncil of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 12-69 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia (1988) be <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 12-69. Schedule of bad checks, drafts and debits; fee to be charged. <br /> <br /> The City Treasurer shall maintain a complete list of all checks or drafts uttered, <br />published or passed to the city, and legally authorized debits, for payment of taxes or <br />sums due which are subsequently returned because of insufficient funds, no account or <br />account closed. The person uttering, publishing or passing such check or draft, or <br />authorizing a debit to his account, shall, in addition to the sum due and all civil liabilities <br />incurred by reason of said check, draft or legally authorized debt, pay to the city a fee not <br />to exceed that authorized by Section 15.2-106 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2.
