AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, V]RGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS:7-32, 7-96, 7-104, <br />7-105, 7-105.1, 7-131, 7-132, 7-133, 7-134, 7-135, and 7-138(a) THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING INSPECTIONS AND <br />BUILDING INSPECTION FEES. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 7-32, %96, 7-104, 7,1'05, 7-105.1, 7-131, 7-132, 7-133, 7- <br />134, 7-135 and 7,138(a) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth (1988) be amended and <br />reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 7-32. Division of building inspection. <br /> <br /> (a) The division of building inspection of the department of building <br />inspections shall be supervised by the chief plans examiner, who shall have such <br />assistants as may, from time to time, be authorized by the city manager and appointed by <br />the building official. <br /> <br /> (b) The plans examiner shall have any combination equivalent to five (5) <br />years of experience in the field of building construction and including two (2) years of <br />experience as a building inspector. <br /> <br /> (c) Each building inspector shall have at least four (4) years' experience in the <br />field of building construction. <br /> <br />Sec. 7-96. Adopted. <br /> <br /> There is hereby adopted by the city for the purpose of establishing rules and <br />regulations for the construction, alteration, repair, removal, demolition, equipment, use <br />and occupancy of buildings and structures, including permits and penalties, that certain <br />code known as the "Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code," and the accumulative <br />supplements thereto and the amendments thereto, save and except such portions as are <br />hereinafter amended or deleted, as permitted in the enabling legislation, and building <br />regulations adopted and promulgated pursuant thereto, and the same are hereby adopted <br />and referred to herein as the building code of the city as fully as if set out at length herein, <br />and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the corporate limits of the city. <br /> <br />Sec. 7-104. Fees for review of construction <br /> plans. <br /> <br /> In addition to the permit fees prescribed in this article, there shall be a fee for the <br />review of construction plans for all matters for which permits are mandated by the <br /> <br /> <br />
