~July 12, 1993 At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, July 12, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *James C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-273- The followzng call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of Ciny Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:0~0 p.m., Monday, July 12, 1993, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, ~ou may consider a motion ~o go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 93-274 The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Update gmven by Danny E. Cruce, Executive Director, PRFLA, on the power outage in Ida Barbour Park. 2. Update given by Charles R. Johnson, Director of Human Services, on the proposed taxicab ordinance. 3. Consideration and discussion on Council rules and procedures. Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, ~o go into Executive Session pursuan~ to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virgznma for the following: (1) Consideratmon of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Discussion or consideration of the use of publicly held real property in the Churchland and central portions of the City as permitted under Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion of Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding ExecUtive SeSsion of the City Council: ~1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned. APPROVED - Mayor /City Clerk *Councilman James C. Hawks arrived at 5:28 p.m.
