Auqust 24, 1993 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, Augus 24, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. ~riffin, Sr., *James C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-319 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 1993, for the purpose of a joint meeting with Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority and a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 93-320 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Report on regulating Cox Cable Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by City Council as permitted under Subsection (1); (A) (2) Consideration of the acquisition of real property for public use and the use of publicly held real property in the southern, northern, central, downtown, eastern, Cradock Churchland portions of the City as permitted under Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Clemons pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Counoilmember's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public bus~ness matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were ident in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
