175 September 13, 1993 At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, September 13, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, *Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., **J~unes C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. Planning Commission Members present: Susan Taylor Hansen, Bridgeford, James A. Turner. Chairman, Charles P. Anderson, Flossie Overton, Jr., Jimmy Spruill, Sr., Raymond 93-339 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor, City Hall Building, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 13, 1993 for the purpose of a joint meeting with the Planning Commission. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor.,, 93-341 The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Sign Regulations 2. Adult Uses Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Co=~issions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) (1). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the Ci=y Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
