November 9, 1993 At a Called Meeting of 6~~ City Council on Tuesday, November 9, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Bernard D. Griffin, Sro, *James C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-431 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m~, Tuesday, November 9, 1993, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 93-432 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. CIP Update 2. "The Lanterns" Group Housing Project 3. Willett Drive/High Street Traffic Engineering Plans Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A)(1); (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition of real property for public use in the downtown and southern portions of the City as permitted under Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from ~pen meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information ct, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
