<br />The following directions were read for the special meeting:

<br /> You will please call a special meeting of the City O~uncll with the Board of
<br />Supervisors of Norfolk County in the Rooms of the Supervisors, Tuesday, April 13th, at lO
<br />o'clock a. m., to consider ~erry appraisal.
<br />

<br />The "call" having been read, Er. ~hite offered the following resolution:~
<br />
<br /> ,'RESOLVED. That the City of Portsmouth and County of Norfolk arrange to pay off the
<br />debtedness due~the United States Housing Corporation on the ferries ~ud to take over the
<br />ferries and the operation thereof not later than Eay 31st, 1~26.
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED ~RTH~, That the attorneys of the City of Portsmouth and County of Norfolk
<br />w~ite a notice to the United States Government, acting ~hrough the United States Housing Cor~o-
<br />ration, to this effect."
<br />
<br />The =esdlution was adopted, and by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes-- Brooks, Naupin, Smith, Stewart (J.R.), Stewart (R.E.B.), '~ite,
<br />
<br /> Er. ?~nite also offered the following resolution:
<br /> ~RESOLVED, That it is the sense of this
<br />joint body that the~ferries when taken over by the City of Portsmouth ~nd County of Norfolk
<br />be operated jointly by them under the Statute for such case made and provided; ~nd to this end
<br />that each the Council of the City of Portsmouth ~nd Board of Supervisors of Norfolk Oounty
<br />~ppoint a committee of three consisting respectively of the President of the Council of the
<br />City of Portsmouth, ~he Chairman of its Finance Committee ~nd one other member to be appoi-nted
<br />by the President, o$ the part of the City of Portsmouth, and of the Chairman of the Board of
<br />Supervisors, the Chairman of its Fir~nce Committee and one other men, er of the Board of Super-
<br />visors, to be appointed by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, on the oart of the County
<br />of Norfolk; and that these two committees from the respective bodies constitute the Joint Ferry
<br />Committee, which is hereby authorized to operate the ferries until further action by these
<br />bodies and Lu accordanc~ with the Statute covering the ferries°"
<br />
<br />The resolution was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br />

<br /> ~RESOLVED, That the Chairr~u of the Finance Committees of the representative bodies present
<br />to these bodies resolution necessary to ~rrange for the funds to be raised by the County of
<br />Norfolk and City of Portsmouth to be in hand on or before the date set for the taking over of
<br />the ferries."

<br />The motion was adopted, a~ud by the following vote:
