All that certain piece or parcel of land, situate, <br />lying and being in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded <br />and described as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point on the western right-of-way of Court <br />Street, said point being the southwestern intersection of <br />the right-of-way of Court Street and the right-of-way of Seaboard <br />Coast Line Railroad Company and from said point running thence <br />S 03? 29' 39" W 206.31' to a point; thence S O1° 07' 40" W 12.94' <br />to a point; thence S 869 48' 45" W 9.30' to a point; thence along <br />a curve to the right having a~radius of 288.OS', an arc distance <br />af 66.32' to the True Point of Beginning; from said True Point <br />of Beginning; thence N 68° 13' 40" W 86.47' to a point; thence <br />S 25° 23' 21" W 113.11' to a point on the western right-of-way <br />of Court Street; thence in a northeasterly direction along the <br />western right-of-way of Court Street along a curve to the right <br />having a radius of 388.05', an arc distance of 98.58' to a <br />point; thence along a curve to the left having a r~Jius of 288.O5', <br />an arc distance of 43.34' to the True Point of Beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to complete <br />all transactions and execute all documents incident to such conveyances." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Gray, Holley, Oast, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 79-173 - "Consideration of a resolution urging the Sub-committee on Transportation, <br />Committee on Appropriations, of the U. S. House of Representatives to support 1980 appro- <br />priations for Airport Development Aid Program. <br /> <br /> This resolution urges the U. S. House of Representatives to fund in full airport. <br />and aviation safety, security improvements and expansion projects at various airports <br />including Norfolk International Airport. This resolution supports the development of <br />the regional airport for Tidewater, Virginia. The City Manager recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION URGING THE COMMITTEE OF APPROPRIATIONS OF THE U. S. HOUSE <br />OF REPRESENTATIVES TO FUND THE 1980 APPROPRIATION FOR THE AIR DEVELOPMENT <br />AID PROGRAM. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Norfolk International Airport ser~es the communities of Tidewater Virginia; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Federal grants have been available under the Airport Development Aid Program <br />(ADAP).for funding to undertake airport and aviatio~ safety, security improvements and <br />expansion at said airFort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the funding of ADAP is important to the operation of said airport as well as thc <br />economic benefit to Tidewater Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council <br />it urges the Committee of Appropriations of the U. <br />1980 ~ppropriation for ADAP for fiscal year 1980. <br /> <br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that <br />S. House of Representatives to fund the <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the U. S. Congress from Tidewater are asked <br />to exert maximum support for the full funding of the ADAP appropriation for fiscal year 1980. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to mail a copy of this resolution <br />to members of U. S. Congress from Tidewater and the Norfolk Port and Industrial Authority." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Early, Elliott, Gray, Holley, Oast, Davis <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 79=174 "Consideration <br />Treasurer to refund $1,724.54 <br />conveyed to the City. <br /> <br />of a motion authorizing the <br />to the Seaboard Coast Line <br /> <br />City Assessor to abate and the City <br />Railroad for taxes paid on property <br /> <br /> This rebate is a refund of the taxes paid in advance on property purchased by the <br />City of Portsmouth. ~he City Manager~ recommends adoption." <br /> <br /> <br />
