3OO <br /> <br />October 8, 1979 <br /> <br /> Mrs. Topping, representing the Federation of Civic Leagues, spoke concerning the school <br />zones to be reviewed, if schoot~ill be~cons6t~dat~d~or go back to neighborhoods, are there <br />any schools planned for the downtown area and if tolls for students using the tunnel would be <br />removed. <br /> <br /> Harry Simpson, 496I Briarwood Lane, spoke regarding increase of traffic on Cedar Lane, <br />increasing of multi-family housing conditions which creates traffic problems and rejecting any <br />further multi-family construction in the Churchland area. <br /> <br /> Tommy Thacker, 3936 Merrifield Boulevard, spoke against multi-family housing, similar to <br />Peachtree. <br /> <br /> Richard Barfield, 4012 Queenswood Drive, spoke against ~ulti-family dwellings, trash, <br />noise, traffic, overcrowding of schools, trespassing on private property in the Merrifield <br />area. <br /> <br /> 79-362 - Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Beamer, to go into an executive session <br />immediately the Public Hearing on Zoning Matters Monday, October 8, 1979, for the purpose of <br />discussing the following, and was adopted by unanimous uete: <br /> <br />(A) USE OF PUBLIC PROPERTY <br /> <br />(1) WaterfrontDevelopment <br />(2) Proposed Purchase of Property <br />(3) Pinners Point Sewage Treatment <br />(4) 1846 Courthouse <br /> <br />Plant <br /> <br />(B) LEGAL MATTERS <br /> <br />(1) Pending Litigation <br />(2) Water Contract <br />(3) Amusement Tax <br /> <br />(C) PERSONNEL <br /> <br />(1) A Personnel Matter <br /> <br />(D) BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br />(1) TVDC <br />(2) svp c <br />(3) PRHA <br />(4) Emergency Medical Services <br />(5) Museum ~ Fine Arts Commission <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor <br /> <br />City CI~ <br /> <br />The following petition presented by Mr. Fred Baule: <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned citizens, do hereby request that the large parcel of land being <br />considered for rezoning for apartment and industrial use be rejected. We suggest that the <br />land be used for only low-density, slow growing, single family residences. We feel that this <br />is necessary due to the overcrowding of our schools and roads.
