September 28, 1999 05-~ At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, September 28, 1999 there were present: *Mayor James W.. Holley 111, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 99 - 212 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 99 - 213 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Hurricane Floyd Briefing 2. School Facilities Plan Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: - employee personnel matters and appointments by Council to boards and c0mmiss~ons, as authorized by paragraph lA. 1. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting;of the City Council: 1 Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or' considered in the meeting by the City Council.
