November 23, 1999 087 At a Called Meeting of the City CounCil on Tuesday November 23, 1999, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Bonn III, *William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City AttorneY G. Timothy Oksman. 99 - 250 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 1999, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 99 - 251 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: 2000 Legislative Proposals/General Assembly Delegation Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to~ discuss or consider the following: - the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpbse, as authorized by paragraph A.3, with the subject property being primarily in the downtown and midtown areas of the City - discussion of appointment of specific Council appointees, as authorized by paragraph A. 1, with the subject appointments being to boards and commissions. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
