December 14, 1999 1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, expressed disapproval over the way the package is presented to the public. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH'S 2000 LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS TO BE PRESENTED TO THE PORTSMOUTH DELEGATION AND THE MEMBERS OF THE VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY. WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with a broad range of issues that affect local governments both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns which deal with both local governments and Portsmouth specifically; WHEREAS, these concerns and issues need to be made known to Portsmouth's General Assembly Delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Legislature. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth endorses the attached legislative proposals for the 2000 General Assembly Session and directs that both this resolution and the legislative proposals be forwarded to the Portsmouth General Assembly Delegation." Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None - New Business - 99 - 272 - Mr. Griffin offered the following nominations for the following Boards and Commissions: CITY PLANNING COMMISSION Jennifer A. Smith to be appointed to fill a four year term ending December 31, 2003, replacing James C. Overton. CLEAN COMMUNITY COMMISSION Carl L. Burden to be appointed to fill a three year term ending December 31, 2002, replacing Jennifer M. Crowe. Karen V. Butler to be appointed to fill a three year term ending December 31, 2002, replacing Vivian Curry. Shelby J. Frisby to be appointed to fill a three year term ending December 31, 2002, replacing Kathryn Walden. Raymond W. Durham to be appointed to fill a three year term ending December 31, 2002. Randolph Hoover to be appointed to fill a three year term ending December 31, 2002. AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES COMMISSION Rodger Lee Moody to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending December 31, 2001, replacing Diana H. Creecy. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION Dr. Jeffrey Lynn Ribley, M.D. to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending July 31, 2001, replacing Dr. Jeffrey Molle, M.D. TIDEWATER COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD Warren D. Harris to be reappointed to fill a two year term ending June 30, 2001.
