383 lugust 10, 1981 Ayes: Barnes, Beamer, Gray, Webb, Johansen Nays: None (f) Use Permit UP 81-11 Petition of Annette M. Preddy, by Rev. Robert G. Thompson of the Portsmouth Baptist Association. Rev. Robert G. Thompson, 5606 Darby Close, representing Portsmouth Baptist Association, stated that the request for the use permit was for the purpose of providing a place for bible study and asked Council to approve the use permit. On motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr.: Gray, to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission, UP 81-11 be approved on first reading upon conditions agreed to by the petitioner and the Planning st~ff, to ope.ratea house of worship on property zoned Com- mercial C-3 and located on the north side of High Street, east of Green Street, and was adopted by unanimous vote. (g) Use Permit UP 81-13 Petition of Pentecostal Workers of Christ, by Pastor James H. Coppage. Pastor James H. Coppage, spoke in support of the petition. On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission, UP 81-13 be approved on first reading for expansion of the Church on land zoned Commercial C-2 and located at the southwest corner of Deep Creek BouleVard and Evergreen Place, and was adopted by unanimous vote. Ch] PROPOSED AMENDMEN~ TO THE CITY CODE: Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Planning Commission, amendment to Sectio~ adopted by unanimous vote. Section 40-71(b) pertaining to Commercial C-2 uses by the following addition: Convalescen and nursing homes. Mrs. Webb, to concur in the recommendation of the 40-7t(b) be approved on first reading, and was 81-291 GHP 81-3 CYPRESS COVE VILLAS, PHASE IV Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to concur with the recommendation of the City At~ey, that GHP 81-3 be advertised and be brought back to Council after that time as requi~ed by law, and was adopted by 4-0-1 (Barnes-abstaining) vote. 81-29D (d) Zoning Petition Z 81-9 was taken from the table. On motion Z 81-9 be approved on first reading , concurring with the recommendation of the Planning Commission, the following ordinance temporarily rezoning property on the south side of Crawford Parkway from Residential R-60-A to Waterfront W-1-K Conditional was adopted by unanimous vote: ' "ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE Z 81-9" On motion meeting adjourned.
