Knight, 4820 Portsmouth Boulevard, representing Simonsdale Civic <br />Mrs. Rebecca Cavender, 1 Roberts Court, West. <br />Ms. Mary Edwards, 2 Roberts Court, East, presented the following petition: <br /> <br />Club. <br /> <br /> 'We, the undersigned residents of Roberts Court in the Simonsdale Subdivision of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, do hereby petition the City Council as follows: <br /> <br /> That the application for rezoning of the property located at the northeast corner of <br />Portsmouth Boulevard and Roberts Court from residential to OR-7S not be approved. There <br />is sufficient commercial property available in the City at suitably zoned locations to <br />meet the requirements of the party requesting the aforesaid zoning change. Holding, Jr., Leslie B. Disharoon <br /> and Thomas C. Broyles, by Danny K. Smith, Attorney for <br /> Olde Towne Land Trust. <br /> <br /> Danny K. Smith, Attorney, 5818 Churchland Boulevard, represen~ingOlde Towne Land Trust, <br />spoke for the petitioners and agreed that his letter of August 6, 1981 was part of his proffer <br /> Les French, 208 Glasgow Street, President ofOld~ Towne Civic League, referred to the <br />agreement as stated in the (copies distributed to Council) letter from Mr. Smith, dated <br />August 6, 1981, and stated that if the agreement is not kept Olde Towne Civic League will be <br />back before Council for assistance that it is kept; and cautiously asked that the petition <br /> <br />be approved. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Webb <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, <br />item of business and he brought back at the end <br /> <br /> to approve Z 81-9 on first reading. <br /> <br /> that Item Z 81-9 be tabled and go to the n. <br />of the meeting, was adopted by unanimous vote <br /> <br /> (e) Use Permit UP 81-9 Petition of Mitchell Marks. <br /> <br /> Joseph E. Knight, 4820 Portsmouth Boulevard, representiMg Simonsdale Civic Club, <br />spoke in opposition of the petition. <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to concur in the recommendation of the <br />Planning Commission, that UP 81-9 establishing a house of prayer at 4819 Portsmouth Boulevard <br />on land zoned Commercial C-I, be denied, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />xt <br /> <br /> <br />
