WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is desirous of restoring and
<br />as an adjunct of its Sleepy Hole Park Complex; and

<br /> WHEREAS, the City recognizes the

<br />benefit of volunteer effort

<br />operating the Obici Mansion
<br />and contributions toward thz

<br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has the proven ability to create and suppor'
<br />such volunteer efforts; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has created the Obici Committee for the
<br />purpose of soliciting donations of time, money and material for the restoration of the Obici
<br />Mansion; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of
<br />~nd the benefits that can result for the
<br />areas.
<br />
<br />Portsmouth recognizes the importance of this effort
<br />citizens of the City of Portsmouth and surrounding
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth commends the
<br />Parks and Recreation Commission and the Obici Committee for their efforts and formally re-
<br />cognizes the Obici Committee as an Advisory Committee to the City Council and the Parks and
<br />Recreation Commission for the restoration and operation of the Obici Mansion.

<br />Island (Item 81-446) and urged Council to adopt an ordinance forbiding the Corps of Engineers
<br />from dropping the filth in our backyards without our permission.

<br /> Councilman Barnes requested that the City Attorney review the suggestion of the citizen
<br />and advise Council as soon as possible what legal rights they have in the matter.
