January 11, 2000 <br /> <br />00 - 12 - Adoption of a motion transferring $53,800 from the Grants Contingency <br />Account for the Intensified Drug Enforcement Assistance Fund (IDEA)-Drug and <br />Organized Crime Intelligence program to continue the department-wide Narcotic <br />Enforcement Strategy. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a motion transferring $53,800 from the Grants Contingency Account for <br />the Intensified Drug Enforcement Assistance Fund (IDEA)-Drug and Organized Crime <br />Intelligence program. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />The grant funds will be used as follows: <br /> To continue the department wide Narcotic Enforcement Strategy. <br /> To reduce the opportunities to sell and purchase illegal drugs in our city. <br /> To effectively identify and seize drug related assets. <br /> To sustain and enhance community support by receiving all citizen complaints <br /> directly or through the use of a Community Policing Officer. <br /> To acquire additional equipment and training to enhance the ability to investigate <br /> drug related offenses. <br /> To evaluate and enter complaints into a database to be matched with any prior <br /> complaints or information regarding the location of persons involved. <br /> To continue funding for the Office Specialist position assigned to the program. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The total budget for this program is $53,800, itemized as listed below. S. Government for <br />transportation and infrastructure, and requested assistance by management. <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts spoke on retail sales in Midtown. <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst announced the Town Hall meeting January 18, 2000. <br /> <br />Mr. Massie spoke on the City Council Retreat. <br /> <br />Councilman Moody requested future retreats be held at the Renaissance Hotel. <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst spoke in support of a local retreat and to have major city <br />boards involved in Retreat. <br /> <br /> <br />
