January 11, 2000 ~103 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 11, 2000, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, *Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 00 - 01 -The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11,2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 02 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. 1999 Public Safety Report 2. Performing Arts Center 3. OpSail 2000 4. Town Hall Meeting Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: to discuss the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by subparagraph A.3, with the subject property being in the downtown and midtown areas of the City. Motion by Mr. Pitts seconded by Mr. Robinett, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
