<br /> as an industrial development site for the City; and, advise~Council on the continued use and
<br /> operation of all or any portion of the Craney Island landfill area as a disposal site by
<br /> the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The City Manager recommends adoption."

<br /> 82-222 -"Consideration of an ordinance to amend Section 23-13 of the City Code
<br /> pertaining to the use of certain streets by motor trucks.

<br /> This amendment would provide for the restriction of overweight trucks (36,000 lbs, and
<br />over) on Greenwood Drive between Victory Boulevard and Rotunda Street. The City Manager
<br />recommends adoption."

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY
<br />AMENDING SECTION 23-13 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO USE OF CERTAIN STREETS BY MOTOR
<br />TRUCKS."

<br /> 82-223 "Consideration of an ordinance to amend Section 7-18 of the City Code per-
<br />taining to the maintenance fund ~or cemetery lots.
<br />
<br /> This revision of the City Code is to provide a means for the Cemetery Perpetual Care
<br />Fund to eventually become self supporting (i.e. annual interest earnings from investments
<br />equal or exceed annual care costs). When the value of the fund reaches $1,000,000,
<br />the status of the fund may be reviewed to determine if this aim is met. If not, the City
<br />may elect to continue retention of annual interest earnings in the fund until such time as
<br />stated aim of self sufficiency is met, or, the City may elect to subsidize the fund to the
<br />extent necessary to meet annual care costs. The City Manager recommends adoption.'

<br /> 82-224 -"Consideration of an ordinance closing a portion of a 20' alley on the eastern
<br />side of Mariner Avenue.
<br />
<br /> Earlier this year, Council had closed a portion of this alley at the request of one of
<br />the adjoining property owners. At that time, Council instructed the City Attorney to file
<br />application to close the remaining portion of the alley so that there would be no "land-
<br />locked" area which could not be served and maintained by the City. On May 25, 1982, after
<br />recommendation for approval by the Planning Com~nission, Council appointed Fiewers for this
<br />closure. The viewers have reported that there is no objection to closing the remaining
<br />portion of this alley. The City Manager recommsnds adoption."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray the following ordinance was adopted,
