127 <br /> <br />July 13, 1982 <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF WALDRON AVENUE." <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Town and Country Associates, Ltd., by its attorney Gordon B. Tayloe, Jr., <br />has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion <br />of Waldron Avenue, and it appearing that not~ce of application and request for appointment <br />of viewers was duly posted on June 16, 1982, on the bulletin b~ard of the City Hall <br />building of the City of Portsmouth, the General District Court, Civil Division, and the <br />Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED'by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that A. N. Kendrick, Simon P. Arrington, Richard D. Ottavio, James V. McGhee, and Raymond <br />Tweed by appointed viewers and that R. E. Bruce Stewart and James Moss be appointed <br />alternate viewers in the event one of the preceeding viewers fails to participate, said <br />viewers to view the hereinafter-described portion of Waldron Avenue and to report to <br />this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result in the vacating and closing of the following: <br /> <br />WALDRON AVENUE <br /> <br />Beginning at the southeastern intersection of Fourth Street and Waldron Avenue <br />to a point 90' east on the southern edge of the right-of-way of Waldron Avenue; <br />thence east 22.5', more or less, along the southern edge of Waldron Avenue; thence <br />north 20'; thence west 21.5', more or less, along the northern edge of Waldron <br />Avenue; thence south 20' to the place of beginning. (S-82-4)" <br /> <br />Ayes: Beamer, Gray, Holley, Webb, Whitl3w, Johansen <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />82-253 "Consideration of a resolution recognizing and encouraging the Portsmouth Health <br />Sciences Center Planning and Development Board. <br /> <br /> City Council by this resolution recognizes the Portsmouth Health Sciences Center <br />Planning and Development Board as having been created by private citizens, business <br />institutions and members of the medical community¥in order to collectively support and <br />promote development of Portsmouth." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Gray, the following resolution was adopted, <br />and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND ENCOURAGING THE PORTSMOUTH HEALTH SCIENCES <br />CENTER PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Health Sciences Center Planning and Development Board has <br />been created by private citizens, business institution~ and members of the medical <br />community in order to collectively support and promote development of the City of Portsmouth; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a goal of the Board is to promote economic development and revitalization <br />of the City for both business and residential areas through the private sector; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a goal of the Board is to collectively promote development of the City by <br />encouraging medically related activities to locate in the City to serve the best interest <br />of the citizens of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />that the Council does hereby recognize and encourage the Portsmouth Health Sciences <br />Center Planning and Development Board." <br /> <br />Ayes: Beamer, <br />N~S: Ncne <br />Abstained: Holley <br /> <br />Gray, Webb, Whitl-~w, Johansen <br /> <br /> <br />
