Hale, Vice President and General Manager of Cox Cable of Portsmouth, Inc. <br />spoke to Council on the proposed rate increase for Cox Cable. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Holley to authorize a rate increase by Cox Cable <br />from ~7.50 to $8.95 per month for basic cable service and a fee increase from $15 to $25 subjec <br />to criteria noted being met, was adopted by unanimous vote: <br /> <br />Demonstrate improved telephone and service responsiveness and improved billing procedure <br /> <br />Establish a formal complaint procedure. <br /> <br />Additional channel or channels as part of the basic service package. <br /> <br /> Cox would an increase in the franchise fee from 3% to 5% and Cox would agree to base <br />its franchise payment on gross revenue from all sources rather than on subscriber revenue. <br /> <br /> Cox would agree to provide'Portsmouth any bene'fidial features or additions provided in <br />other Tidewater cities. <br /> <br /> Cox has agreed to rollhack after review period by February l, 1983 if noted criteria <br />has not been met. (trial period from October 1, 1982 to February 1, 1983.) <br /> <br /> 82-356 "Consideration of a motion to refund $135.92 (without interest) in food sales <br />taxes paid in error. <br /> <br /> The Commissioner of Revenue has requested a refund of $135.92 (without interest) for <br />Amory's Seafood Shoppe. This refund ~s for an overpayment in food sales taxes.
