That a special meeting of the Council be held on May 4, 1983 at 7:00 p.m. in the <br />Council Chambers, Sixth Floor, City H~ll for the purpose of considering the 1983-84 Operating <br />Budget, the imposition and levying of taxes and fees for the purpose of raising revenue for <br />the support of governmental operations and the public schools, and general revenue sharing <br />and such other matters as may be deemed appropriate." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Beamer, Gray, Holley, ~ebb, Whitlow, Johansen <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 83-136 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to refund costs <br />for City Motor Vehicle Decals paid in error. <br /> <br /> "The Commissioner of Revenue has requested the refunding of City Motor Vehicle Decals pai~ <br />in error to those individuals appearing on the attached list. <br /> <br /> As these decals were purchased in error on <br />interest will be paid on the amounts refunded. <br /> <br /> I recommend that Council adopt a motion to <br />indicated." <br /> <br />the part of the individuals concerned, no <br />refund these erroneous decals in the amounts <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, that authorization be granted to refund <br />to the following individuals City Motor Vehicle Decals paid in error; Rush T. Allison, <br />$4.58; Ronald W. Griffin, Sr., $20.00; Alicia W. Lynch, $20.00; Ralph E. Owens, $25.00; <br />Cynthia A. Rabba, $22.00; Debra T. & Anthony Salanga, $20.00; Thomas E. Schaut, $20.00; and, <br />was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 83-140 Vice Mayor Beamer offered the following nominations for appointments to the <br />following Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br /> Board of Electrical Examiners <br /> <br /> John A. Bender, Jr., to be appointed for a term of four years, <br />replacing Joseph S. Bell, Jr. <br /> <br />expiring March 1, 1987, <br /> <br /> Community Services Board <br /> Donna M. Lovko, to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending June 30, 1985, replacing <br />Judy A. Griswold, Jane Jacks6n, to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending June 30, 1986 <br />replacing Judith E. Piersall. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, to close nominations and there being no <br />further nominations, the above members to be elected to the designated Boards/Commissions, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 83-141 <br />Point. <br /> <br />John Gram Wallace, 957 "C" Suburban <br /> <br /> 83-142 John S. Mclntyre, 930 Florida Ave., <br />felt had been estimated to high. <br /> <br />Parkway, spoke opposing building of Sandie <br />spoke concerning his water bill, that he <br /> <br /> the City Manager stated he would look into the <br /> <br /> ~-t4~ Dr. Holley-spoke concerning the debris <br />McLean Street and D~s Moines Avenue. <br /> <br />collecting around <br /> <br />the~u~derpasses of <br /> <br /> The City Manager stated that the matter wmuld be looked into. <br /> <br /> Dr. Holley commended the City Manager concerning the improvements to be made around the <br />ventilation building of the tunnel. <br /> <br /> Councilman Barnes commented regarding the lack of sidewalks for the length of the under- <br />passes and asked that it be looked into. <br /> <br /> 83-144 Councilman Barnes spoke concerning the amount of paperwerk being received and <br />that the matter should be reviewed; also requested that each member of Council have a map <br />showing where'at this time multi-family housing is located within the city so Coundil-can look <br />by areas where the city is over-loaded and not over-loaded. <br /> <br /> The City Manager responded to both requests. <br /> <br /> g3-145 Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to go into an executive session <br /> ~o discuss the following, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />(1) Use, ~ale or Acquisition of Public Property; <br />(2) Consultation and briefing on Legal Matters <br /> including Contracts and Litigation; <br />(3) A Personnel Matter~ <br />(4) Boards and Commissions. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> <br />
