February 8, 2000 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, February 8, 2000, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. <br />Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr, Chades B. Whitehurst <br />Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />00 - 27 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />February 8, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order df the Mayor." <br /> <br />00 - 28 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Gateway Center for the Arts <br /> <br />2. Path of Glory <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting Pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1,344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or <br />consider the following: <br /> <br /> appointments by Council to boards and commissions, as authorized by <br />subparagraph A.1; and <br /> <br /> the acquisition of Sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by <br />subparagraph A.3, with the subject property being in the downtown area of the City. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Berm, seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 <br />of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion bY wl'ii~;h <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Victor H.
