Michael Sasser to be reappointed for a term of four years, <br />ending July 1,1987. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to close nominations and ~here being no <br />further nominations, the above members to be elected to the designated Boardg/Commissions, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> ~ouncil~eman Webb suggested ~hat in view of Youth City Government Day ~eing~smch a~,succes <br /> that a Youth Advisory Committee be reactivated~ <br /> <br /> 83-241 - On motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. Gray, the following resolution was <br /> <br />adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE <br /> SHIPYARD MUSEUM FOR DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Friends of the Portsmouth Naval <br /> <br />FRIENDS OF THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL <br />CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br />Shipyard 5{useum was organized in October of <br /> <br />1962 to promote, support and encourage public interest in the programs of the Portsmouth Naval <br />Shipyard Museum through service, contributions and education; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, "The Friends" supplements the staff of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum and <br />have given over 40,100 service hours welcoming 780,675 guests since January of 1963 from all <br />states and 4S foreign countries; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, "The Friends" have operated a gift shop at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum <br />and used the money derived therefrom to benefit the Museum and further its programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, "The Friends" have given of their time, talents and funds for the enhancement o~ <br />the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum, thus, providing a hospitable and friendly atmosphere on <br />behalf of the City of Portsmouth and i~s citizens for the many visitors to the Portsmouth Nays <br />Shipyard Museum. <br /> <br /> <br />
