<br /> 83-233 The following letter submitted by the City Manager concerning the:~resol~5on
<br />adopting a plan for the long-term care of the impaired elderly, deferred from the regular
<br />meeting of June 14, 1983:
<br />
<br /> "As you are aware, in ApriI 1982, the Virginia General Assembly passed Senate Bill
<br />219 establishing a statewide network of Long-Term gate Coordinating Committees. These
<br />committees were charged with the 'developme~ ~ Long Term Care Plans for their communities
<br />to ensure that a broad range of services are available to impaired elderly persons.
<br />
<br /> In response to the mandate of Senate Bill 219, Portsmouth's Long Term Care Coordinating
<br />Committee has developed the attached plan. Therefore, I recommend the adoption of the attach~
<br />resolution and implementation of the plan."

<br />'"A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PLAN FOR THE LONG-TERM CARE OF THE IMPAIRED ELDERLY FOR
<br />TI~E CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, .Section 2.1-373.7 of the Code of V~rgin~a directs localities to establish a
<br />Long-Term Care Coordinating Committee for the purpose of developing, monitoring, implementing
<br />and evaluating a plan for long-term care for the impaired elderly; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, by resolution adopted on September 28,~ 1982, this Council established the
<br />Long-Term Care Coordinating Committee and designated the Department of Social Services'as
<br />the lead agency thereof; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Long-Term Care Coordinating Committee was charged with the development
<br />of a plan to provide a broad range of services to the impaired elderly to be approved hy
<br />this Council and submitted to the Long-Term Care Council for the Commonwealth of Virginia;
<br />and
