<br />variance for renovation of the Dinwiddie Hotel and construction
<br />of a new apartment building adjacent to the Hotel over its parking
<br />lot.

<br />THE WIDENING O~ WEST NORFOLK ROAD."

<br />- REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER
<br />
<br /> 83-269 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a resolution contracting
<br />to provide a payment to the Southeastern Public Service Authority of Virgifiia to guarantee
<br />the payment of a part of a certain obligation of that Authority.
<br />
<br /> "Attached is a proposed resolution which is recommended for your adoption by officials
<br />of ~he Southeastern Public Service Authority of Virginia. The res61ution needs to be adopted
<br />by all participating conm~unities of the regional organization prior to the Authority meeting
<br />of July 27th, 1983.
<br />
<br /> The adoption of this ~esolution: commits the City Council of the City of Portsmouth to
<br />guarantee payment of obligations accrued by the Authority in the event that %he solid waste
<br />project, as presently presented, does not come to fruition. It should be understood that no
<br />appropriation would be necessary at this time. Because of recent activities, I feel the pros-
<br />pects of building this regional facility are greater now than ever before. Attached is a
