(No Term) <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to close nominations and there being no <br />further nominations, the above members to be elected to the designated Boards/Commissions, <br />and was adopted by unaimous vote. <br /> 83-312 - Eunice L. Facenda, 411 Tareyton Lane, representing the Park Manor Civic Club, <br />presented the following: <br /> "At the August 8th meeting of the Park Manor Civic Club, a ~esoluton was passed approving <br /> the general concept of Central Portsmouth, the Priority Action Program for ~ss~r ~pinion <br /> that the proposal will enhance the image of Portsmouth in the ore'tall picture of the Greater <br /> Hampton Roa6s area, as well as, improve the living standards of many of our citizens who Will <br /> be relocated due to the renewal. We, also, believe that it will be of great benefit to the <br /> business community. <br /> It is the intention of our club to take advantage of Mr. Hanbury's recent offer and ask~ <br /> someone from th~ City Manager's office to address our club on this project. Once ~e have the <br /> details on some of the specific items, we hope to be the first of the city's civic c.lubs to <br /> endorse the proposal wholeheartedly. <br /> This information:~spresented so that Council will know that our club is interested in all <br /> facets of Portsmouth's growth and progress." <br /> 83-313 - Rev. James Vaugha~, 3707 Greenleaf Trail, representing Small Business Broadcast- <br /> ing Service (SgBS), spoke concerning support of the Portsmouth Community Development funds to <br /> assist the relocation of the Small Business Broadcasting Service Company, video-computer pro- <br /> duction studio in Portsmouth. (See E~hibit 83-313) <br /> ' Motion of Mr. Holley and seconded by Mrs. Webb, additSonal time to complete presentation, and was adopted <br /> Mr. Hanbury responded to Mr. Vaughan that the Community Development funds would be audite~ <br /> and therefore, the City's interest had to be protected, regarding equipment purchases. <br /> Mr. Barnes asked that the City Manager review Mr. Vaughan's request. <br /> 83-31~ - Jay Caspee;~ 58 ,Park View Avenue, representing Park View Preservation League, <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to suspend the rules for Mr. ~a$9~r to <br /> speak an additional 3 minutes, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> Mr. Casper presented a slide presentation on h&de~houses of historic value in the Park <br /> View area, and requested that a portion Park View be established as' a~ Historic District. <br /> Motion'of-Mr. Barnes ~nd seconded by Mr. Gray, the matter be ~eferred to the City Manager <br /> and his admini~strativ® staff to set a meeting with the Park View Committee, and report back to <br /> Council as soon as possible, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> 83-315 James Staples, 28 Channing Avenue, representing Alien Productions, <br /> the Frank D.
