Masters, Jr. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. <br />further nominations, the above members to be <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Gray, to close nominations and there being no <br />e}ected to ~ designated Boards/Commissions, <br /> <br /> 84-115 Amanda Connar~ 3308 Armistead Drive, representing Wilson Ward Civic League/ <br />Citizens-North Truxtun, spgKe{~concerning curbs and gutters in North Truxtun and presented <br />the following petition: <br /> <br /> "WE, the undersigned, citizens of the City of Portsmouth, Wilson Ward Civic League <br />and the Community known as North Truxtun do hereby petition the City Council Of the City <br />to promptly re-evaluate your list of priorities for neighborhood improvements in regards <br />to curbing and gutters. Since our position on this list has not changed since 1974, we feel <br />that this petition is justified and proper. Signed by Samuel Haywood, 3116 Armistead Drive <br />and others.'U <br /> <br />A group of citizens from the area were present to supporttthe request. <br /> <br /> The Mayor advised Ms. Connor that the matter would be looked into and see what could be <br />done on a temporary basis. <br /> <br /> 8%~116 John H. Lewis, 2211 Frederick Boulevard, a~ked if the =~s <br /> s~a~ was the only avail- <br />able land for the Transfer Station (SPSA). <br /> <br /> The City Manager responded to Mr. Lewis that from all indications, the present l~nd is <br />the most appropriate site for the Trans£er Station. <br /> <br /> 84-117 - Councilwoman Webb asked if the Task Force on home improvements was still in <br />place and if there was mechafiism to keep the door-to-door home improvement people from taking <br />advantage of citizens. <br /> <br /> The City Manager replied and indicated that the proper agency for home improvement <br />referrals was the Department of Inspections. <br /> <br /> 84-118 - Councilman Barnes inquired about removal of railings along the Seawall. <br /> <br /> The City Manager indicated that the railings would be replaced by bollards which wilI~ <br />provide for the safety of pedestrians and maintain the nautical theme of Portside. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br />APPROVED -~ <br /> <br /> <br />
