March 14, 2000 t 39 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, there were <br /> present: <br /> <br /> *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. <br /> Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br /> Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br /> 00 - 48 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br /> Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m:, Tuesday, <br /> March 14, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />00 - 49 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. 2000-2001 ClP presentation <br />2. Hoffler Creek Foundation <br /> <br />3. Clean Community Commission <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider <br />the following: <br /> <br /> the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by <br />subparagraph A.3, with the subject property being in the downtown and Victory <br />Boulevard areas of the City. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned, <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Dr. James W.
