March 14, 2000 t 39 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, there were present: *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 00 - 48 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m:, Tuesday, March 14, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 00 - 49 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. 2000-2001 ClP presentation 2. Hoffler Creek Foundation 3. Clean Community Commission Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by subparagraph A.3, with the subject property being in the downtown and Victory Boulevard areas of the City. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Robinett, seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
