Wallace, 957- C Suburban Parkway, spo~e concerning the dismissal of the Executive Director Michael Kay and Deputy Executive Director Hugh Forehand of PRHA. (See Exh~i .~ 7~yo~'~reqdested the City Attorney to review the matter and advise the Council' per- taining to the legality of their inquzry. 84~256 Rosalind Gordon, 3902 High Street, to speak and requested an additional ~ Motion~o.f ~r_~ Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to grant Mrs. Gcrdon the additional time, and was adopted by unanimous vote. Mrs. Gordon spoke concerning ~he following matters: Inquired on the operation of a city dance class ~n Portsmouth. New, sport center at the old Sears Building. Pool at-Wo~ow Wilson High School. Rebuilding of the City Park Bridge. Allow bingo for ~und raising in ~he high schools for ~nd~equipment. The need for resurfacing of High Street in the downtown area instead of the 3900 Block of High Street. The ~i.ty Manager stated that a recommendation would be coming to Council [n the near future on the dance class and that ~here was a dance company in operation in the city. 84-257 Mrs. Rosie Perkins, 346 Saunders Drive, representing the Westhaven Areas Civic League, presented the following resolution: "WHEREAS;~ following its last annexation, Portsmouth undertook reorganization of its municipal government and considered placement of the Rddevelopment and Housing Authority staff under departmmmtal status of the City Manager as is the case in other Virginia Cities suhh as Alexandria, Charlottesville, etc; and WHEREAS, community development funds for urban renewal no longer come to a redevelop- ment and housing authority but reach them only as pass-through allocations arrived at by a city council after advertised public hearings; and WHEREAS, our City Council and City Manager are pledged to both economy of municipal administration and to accelerated efforts toward community development and renewal, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that City Council as one its first actions of fiscal 1984-85 place the staff of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority within the framework of municipal government under our City Manager; and 84-255)
