November 13, 1984 <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the <br />City Council, and further that a copy be presented to the Reverend Ben A. Beamer, Sr.." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Corprew, Gray, Lucas, Webb, Whitlow, Holley <br /> Nays: None <br /> Abstaining: Beamer~ <br /> '~84-428' - John G. Wallace, 958-C Suburban PJrkwy, offered compliments to Mayor Holley, <br />for ~he manner the meetings have been conducted and expressed his feeling for the past and <br />present. <br /> <br /> 84-429 - Counctlman~!lC~rprew presented a Certificate of Appreciation awarded to Mayor <br />Holley from the Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D. C., for his cooperation and support <br />of the activities of the Filipino-American Community in Norfolk, Virginia. <br /> <br /> 84-430 -G~iD~ W. Ronco, 13 W. Roberts Court, spoke on the continuing noise level caused <br />by the delivery trucks to the s~em~adjacent to his property. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that the matter be referred to the City <br />Manager, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 84-431 Simon P. Arrington, 2907 Magnolia Street, representing Wilson Ward <br />spoke concerning youth loitering around shopping center located at the corner of <br />and Portsmouth Boulevard and requested~that the matter be looked into. <br /> <br />Civic League, <br />Rodmam~Avenue <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Corpre~, that the matter be referred to the City <br />Manager and a report be furnished to the Council, also Mr. Arrington and Johnny Day be apprise~ <br />of the action taken, and was adopted bY unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 84-432 R.G. Harlsey, 2124 Peach <br />for cooperation in cleaning up the area, <br />Effingham Streets. <br /> <br />Street, representing Lee WardliCivic League, requested <br />particularly Randolph Street between LaSalle and <br /> <br /> Mo%ion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, Mr. Harsley was ~ranted an additional <br />5 minutes to speak, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that the matter be referred to the City <br />Manager, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 84-433 William E. Copeland, 2107 Staunton Avenue, representing American Legion Post 190 <br />spoke concerning drop-offs at certain points around the building owned by the American Legion, <br />correct potholes in the streets, lights need to be upgraded, weed and debris condition in the <br />cemetery, and the need for curbs and gutters. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Whitlow and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that Mr. Copeland's problems be referre <br />to the City Manager to investigate the immediate concerns, and also long-range concerns, and <br />a report be furnished, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
