March 12, 1985 <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 85-78 Councilman Beamer offered the following nominations for appointments to the <br />following Boards'Commissions: <br /> <br />Emergency Medical Services Advisory Commission <br /> <br /> Dr. Steven J. Zahller to be appointed to served an unexpired term, ending July 31, 1985; <br />replacing Robert B. Conroy, Jr. <br /> <br />Transportation Safety Commission <br /> <br /> A. A. Thereault to be appointed to served an unexpired term, ending November 1, 1987; <br />replacing A. A. Pope. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. <br />no further nominations, the above members were <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Webb, to close nominations and there being <br />elected to the designated Boards/Commissions, <br /> <br /> 85-?9 Lewis %homas, 131 Florida Avenue, spoke concerning the length of time it is <br />taking to complete the work of the overpass on the Martin Luther King Freeway and ask that <br />the City contact the Virginia Department of Highways ~ Transportation to see what can be done <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, to receive as information and that the <br />City Manager look into the matter, that a report be furnished to Council and a copy be sent <br />to Mr. Thomas, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />85-80 Councilman Corprew requested that a report b&'furnished on the following: <br /> <br />1. Progress report on the railroad crossings with regards to tie-ups. <br />2. Requirements for public restrooms in convenient stores. <br /> Requested a structured report of the total Ei±y~emptoyment; broken <br /> down by race and gender. (EEO) <br /> <br /> 85-81 Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Webb, to go into an executive session <br />for the purpose of discussing the following, and was adopted by unanimous vote: <br /> <br />(1) Use, Sale, or Acquisition of Public Property <br />(2) Consultation and Briefing on Legal Matters <br /> including Contracts and Litigation <br />(3) A Personnel Matter <br />(4) Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> ~ Mayor / <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
