June 11, 1985 <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 85-172 Councilman Whitlow offered the following nominations for appointments to the <br />following Baards/Ccmmissions: <br /> <br />Emergency Medical Services Advisory Commission <br /> <br /> Steven J. Zahller, Dr. Harry Jenkins, and Dr. David Pitrolo, to be reappointed for a term <br />of three years, expiring July 31, 1988; Curtis Barrier to be appointed for a term of three year <br />expiring July 31, 1988, replacing Kay E. Cherry, and Othel Spencer to be appointed for a term <br />of three years, expiring July 31, 1988, replacing Ella~Poss. <br /> <br />Municipal Finance Commission <br /> <br /> Edna Padrick to be appointed to fill an unexpired term, ending July 1, 1986; replacing <br />Billy E. McDaniel. <br /> <br /> Parking Authority <br /> <br /> Edna Padrick to be <br />Billy E. McDaniel. <br /> <br />appeinted to fill an unexpired term, ending July 1, 1986; <br /> <br />replacing <br /> <br />Board of Electrical Examiners <br /> <br /> Christopher M. Spruill to be appcinted to fill an unexpired term, ending March 1, 1988; <br />replacing Richard L. Stephens. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to close nominations and there being no <br />further nominations, the above members to be elect6d to the designated Boards/Commissions, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 85-173 - Ken Wingate, P. O. Box 3281, Portsmouth, representing Saved Ministries, Inc., <br />spoke concerning programs to help youth and their problems teen-age sdicide, criminal acts, <br />rapes, abuse, run-a-ways, and missmng children, and asked for Council's support in these <br />programs. (See Exhibit 85-173) <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Whitlow, to be received as <br />to the City Manager, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />information and referre <br /> <br />85-174 Mabel B. Raymer, 1008 - 4th Street, request additi6n~l time to speak. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mr. Beamer, that Mrs. Raymer be granted an <br />5 minutes, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />additional <br /> <br /> Mrs. Raymer spoke concerning her property on 4th Street; referring to houses being <br />set on fire; illegally demolishing structures; decreasing value of property; amount of <br />time allowed to upgrade structures to the code. <br /> <br /> Mayor <br />office on <br /> <br />Holley reminded Mrs. Raymer that she had an appcintment with the City Manayer's <br />Friday, June 16, 1985. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned~at <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />11:43 p.m. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
