<br />A proposal to amend Section 40 of the City Code pertaining to temporar]

<br /> Mary M. Johnson, 308 North Street, representing Chisholm House, was available to answer
<br />questions and expressed her interest in the p~oject and willing to work.with the City in any-
<br />way to expedite it.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to suspend the rules for Mrs. Johnson to
<br />speak again.
<br />
<br /> Mrs. Johnso~ expressed appreciation and stated that the Olde Towne and Park View Civic
<br />Leagues were in favor of the change.

<br /> Motion of Mrs. Webb and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, that the matter be deferred to the meetin
<br />of October 22, 1985, and was adopted by unanimous vote.

<br /> 85-302 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance
<br />$194,755 from Public Utilities Capital Improvement Fund to replace the Beechdale
<br />Pumping Station and award of contract.
<br />

<br />
<br /> "The Director of Public Utilities has requested an appropriation ordinance in the amount
<br />of $194,755 for replacement of the Beechadale Road Sewage Pumping Station, and award of bids
<br />to the lowest responsible bidders -- H E L P Copany, Inc. and Luke Construction Company. This
<br />porject was part of the 1983-84 CIP and was estimated at $230,000.
<br />
<br /> The project to replace the Beechdale Road Sewage Pumping Station serves a dual purpose
<br />in replacing an obsolete, over capacity station and providing capacity for the development of
<br />the City's Beechaale Commerce Park. This pumping station is not included in the fazilities
<br />which will be transferred to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District under the pending agreement
<br />for the sale of the Pinners Point Sewage Treatment Plant.

<br /> A tabulation of the bids is attached for your
<br />the enclosed ordinance to appropriate $194,785 for
<br />responsible bidder.
