<br />December 9, 2025 <br /> <br />“RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE 2026 CALENDAR OF CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETINGS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City Council for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia desires to <br />set forth its intention to conduct its regular meetings at the times and dates set forth <br />herein for the calendar year 2026; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City Council for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia desires to <br />set forth its intention to conduct its public work sessions and additional scheduled <br />meetings at the times and dates set forth herein for the calendar year 2026; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, the City Council for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia desires to <br />provide for the public advance notice of its intention to conduct its public meetings <br />th <br />in the Council Chamber at 801 Crawford Street, 6 Floor, Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />unless otherwise designated or provided for in a special call or notice subsequently <br />issued for the benefit of its citizenry and open government. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby adopts the Portsmouth City Council 2026 <br /> <br />Calendar of City Council Meetings in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Bryant, Dodson, Hugel, Moody, Thomas, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />25 - 363 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />25 - 364 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Mr. Tillage wished citizens a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year. <br /> <br /> <br /> Ms. Bryant spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Congratulated Portsmouth Public Schools Teacher of the Year Deshanna Honore. <br />˗ <br /> Congratulated Judge Johnny E. Morrison on his 25-year commitment to the <br />˗ <br />Portsmouth Adult Recovery Court. <br /> <br /> Dr. Dodson spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Update and details on the statue that’s being installed in the round about. <br />˗ <br /> Update and details on the demolition of the City jail. <br />˗ <br /> Update on the cleanup of the Holiday Inn site. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Mr. Hugel informed citizens and City Council of the 4Kids event. <br /> <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Moody informed citizens and City Council of the Portsmouth Pop Warner <br /> <br />Football team being the only team from Virginia to participate in the Pop Warner Super <br />Bowl and asked that they be recognized at a City Council Meeting. He also wished <br />citizens a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover thanked City staff for a great year. He also wished citizens a Happy <br /> <br />Holiday season. <br /> <br />25 - 365 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no pending items. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter thanked staff, his appointed peers and City Council for their hard <br />work and continued cooperation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
