September 9, 2025 <br /> <br /> <br /> The purpose of the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program is to support <br />the activities of local emergency management agencies in establishing, maintaining and <br />operating emergency plans, programs and capabilities to deal with nuclear accidents, as <br />required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and FEMA. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> This funding will be used for training and to purchase equipment to enhance our <br />HAZMAT Team’s response capabilities for radiological incidents. <br /> <br />Financial impact: <br /> This program does not require a local cash match and\\or In-Kind services. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will assign the budget code. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Bryant, and seconded by Mr. Tillage, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FROM THE <br />VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND APPROPRIATING <br />SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2026 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT <br />OF FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE <br />RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM. <br />” <br /> <br />Ayes: Bryant, Dodson, Hugel, Moody, Thomas, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />25 - 258 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Councilman Hugel offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Board of Zoning Appeals <br />Christian Harris to be appointed to a term ending December 31, 2030, replacing Gary <br />Bunting. <br /> <br />Clean Community Commission <br />Luis Padilla to be appointed to fill a term ending June 30, 2028, replacing Veronica James. <br /> <br />Community Criminal Justice Board <br />Genesis Thomas to be appointed to a term ending June 30, 2028, replacing Irvinia Gregg. <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority <br />C.
