<br />March 25, 2025 <br /> <br />thth <br />WHEREAS, <br /> at the retreat held on March 7 and 8, 2025 City Council crafted <br />statements defining its vision for Portsmouth, Virginia and its mission for the City’s <br />governance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> as confirmation that the members of City Council will strive to achieve <br />its vision and accomplish its mission through their various official actions and decisions, <br />Council desires to formally adopt the Vision Statement and Mission Statement; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that the Vision Statement and Mission Statement attached as Exhibit A hereto <br />be, and they hereby are, adopted.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Bryant, Dodson, Hugel, Moody, Thomas, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Mr. Hugel informed citizens and City Council of the Crime and Gun Violence Task <br /> <br />th <br />Force meeting taking place on Monday, April 14, 2025, in the 6 Floor Conference <br />Room at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Moody informed citizens and City Council that March 25 was Medal of <br /> <br />Honor Day and read the names of Portsmouth recipients. He also asked that the <br />plaque bearing their names be reconditioned. <br /> <br /> Ms. Bryant spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Congratulated Dr. Washington on a successful Coldest Night of the Year Walk. <br />˗ <br /> City Council retreat that was held on March 7 and March 8. <br />˗ <br /> Starbase STEM program banquet. <br />˗ <br /> Congratulated Cub Scout Pack 207 on a successful pinewood derby. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Ms. Bryant asked City Manager Carter for an update on the process of removing the <br /> <br />boat by the love sign. <br /> <br /> Ms. Bryant asked that there be a discussion on safety measure for trash and recycling <br /> <br />trucks when maneuvering through neighborhoods. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tillage recognized those women that have served and are currently serving on <br /> <br />City Council in honor of Women’s History Month.
