August 13, 2024 <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that it hereby approves and authorizes the conveyance of an easement to <br />Dominion Energy Virginia in substantially the location set forth on Exhibit A hereto, and <br />in such form as the City Manager may approve, and that the City Manager is hereby <br />authorized to execute such documents or instruments as may be necessary or desirable <br /> <br />in furtherance of the intent of this Resolution.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />24 - 234 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Lucas-Burke offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />History Commission <br />Cindy Nicholls to be reappointed to a three-year term ending June 30, 2027. <br /> <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority <br />Zeketa Cost to be reappointed to a four-year term ending August 31, 2028. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Hugel, to close nominations and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Tillage, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />24 - 235 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Presentation by Councilman Barnes to students from the Portsmouth Public Schools <br /> <br />Summer Jobs Program. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover spoke on the Hampton Roads Community Health Center Community <br /> <br />Health Day event. <br /> <br />24 - 236 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br />24 - 237 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Elliot Cohen, 6071 High Street, West, voiced his concern with a proposed trail on High <br />Street. <br /> <br />2. Sherman Tyler, 1812 Parker Avenue, informed citizens of transportation to <br /> election polls in November. <br /> <br />3. Gary Bahena, 428 North Street, informed citizens and City Council of the upcoming <br />Portsmouth Paddle Battle. <br /> <br />4. Bill Dodson, 801 Mimosa Road, voiced his concern with the tax rate and the process <br />to obtain a building permit. He also asked that a better lobbying and grant writing <br />system be implemented. <br /> <br />5. Sheila Joseph, 139 Grand Steet, voiced her concern with her water bill and the billing <br />system. <br /> <br />6. Timothy Todd, 305 Sherwood Forest Road, Chesapeake, thanked City Council for <br />directing staff to place an item on the agenda providing a $1500 stipend to fire and <br />police retirees. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
