<br />June 11, 2024 <br /> <br /> Open Space Program discussion at next Public Work Sesson. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams clarified that the policy creation would be a <br />collaboration between the City Assessor and City Manager. She also informed <br />City Council that this subject matter would need to be in a closed session. <br /> Sugar Hill Task Force update. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams provided a response. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes asked for and received a consensus of City Council to install grills, <br /> <br />benches, picnic tables and repair basketball backboards at Churchland Middle School <br />pending discussion with the school board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Summer Rays Program funding source. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter provided an update on the funding source. <br /> Restaurant advertising on highway signs and request to use city funds for <br />˗ <br />restaurant advertisement. <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter provided a response. <br /> Change in location for Sunset Thursday and a request to move the event back to <br />˗ <br />High Street Landing. <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter will provide a report back. <br /> Joint meeting with Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter will contact the board. <br /> <br />rd <br /> Mr. Tillage spoke on the 3 Annual Portsmouth Pride Festival. <br /> <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Presentation of the Honorary Street Naming Program at a Public Work Session. <br />˗ <br /> Report back on Willett Hall statues. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Lucas-Burke spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Turnover audit update. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Manager Carter provided an update. <br /> West Parkview concerns with lack of upkeep at Oak Grove Cemetery. There was <br />˗ <br />also a request to install flagpole at cemetery. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams informed City Council that the cemeteries are <br />under the purview of the City Manager but will work alongside with regards to <br />the requests that were made. <br /> Dog park waste bins. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> City Attorney Graham-Williams informed City Council that the doggy waste bins <br />and bags are provided by citizens and not the City. <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked that City Manager Carter provide historical information in his report <br /> <br />back on Willett Hall statues. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Recognized June as Men’s Health Month. <br />˗ <br /> Swearing in of new police officers. <br />˗ <br /> <br />24 - 171 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no pending items. <br /> <br />24 - 172 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1.
