January 14, 1986 <br /> <br /> On motion of Mrs. I~ebb and seconded by Mr. Beamer, the following ordinance was approved <br />on first reading; award of contract to Bos Brothers Tent Removal, being the low bidder, and <br />was adopted by unanimous vote (6-0): <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $34,675.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR <br />REPLACEMENT OF THE TENT ROOF ON THE OLDE HARBOUR MARKET." <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 86-23 Vice Mayor Webb offered the following nominations for appointments ro the <br />following Boards/Commissions: <br /> <br />Supplemental Retirement Board <br /> <br /> Evelyn Sawyer to be appointed for a term o£ four years, expiring Octobe~ 1, 1989; <br />replacing Adm. James A. Brown; Susan H. Burton to be reappointed for a term of four years, <br />expiring October 1, 1989. Appointing James E. Jarvis as Chairman of the Supplemental Retire- <br />ment Board. <br /> <br />who <br /> <br /> STOP <br /> <br />Anne Long for an unexpired term, ending July 1, 1987; <br />resigned. <br /> <br />replacing Warren I. Early, Jr., <br /> <br />Jail Advisory Board <br /> <br /> Dr. Sidney Tiesenga ro be appointed for an unexpired term, ending January 31, 1987, <br />replacing Dr. EIoyd~Damsey, deceased. <br /> <br />Community Services Board <br /> <br /> Charles H. Wood, III to be appointed for an unexpired term, ending June 30, 1988: <br />replacing Constance C. Law. <br /> <br /> Housing Board of Adjustments <br /> <br /> Sandra Boone to be appointed <br />Angela Faulcon. <br /> <br />~ Appeals <br /> <br />to fill an unexpired term, <br /> <br />ending July 1, 1987; <br /> <br />replacing <br /> <br /> Councilwoman Lucas requested that the STOP appointment be voted on separately because <br />she would abstain being employed by STOP. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Lucas to close nominations on boards/commissio~ <br />excluding STOP, and there B~in~g no further nominations, the above members to be elected to <br />the designated Boards'Commissions, and was adopted ky unanimous vote (6-0). <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Webb, ~o close nominations on STOP and there <br />being no further nominations, the above member to be elected, and was adopted by 5-0-l[Abstain <br />Lucas) vote. <br /> <br /> 86-24 -Thelma L. Elliott, 2124 Lincoln Stre¢'t, spoke concerning the underprivileged of <br />funds for schooling and more information should be available in securing funds. <br /> <br /> Motion-of Mr. Beamer and seconded by Mrs. Lucas, to suspend the rules for Mrs: Elliott <br />to complete her presentation, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Holley asked the City Manager to look into the matter. <br /> <br />86-24 Councilman Corprew asked the City Manager to look into the following matters: <br /> <br />(1) Traffic problem of the trains at Frederick Boulevard and Rodman Avenue <br /> at 9:00 a.m., and South&Godwin Streets in the afternoon. <br />(2) Police escorts for funerals - What can be done in lieu of a $30.00 <br /> fee. <br /> <br />Councilman Corprew inquired about the use of the City flags being used for <br />special events for school bands, etc. City Attorney informed him a City flag <br />was available for such use when needed. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned 22:50 a.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> ayor <br /> <br /> <br />
