June 13, 2023 <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> Developmental Disability Residential Support funds are allocated to assist with <br />maintaining support and services for individuals diagnosed with an intellectual and/or <br />developmental disability. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services <br />awarded $9,240 of one-time funding for residential supports. These funds will be utilized <br />as a customized rate intended to facilitate support for individuals diagnosed with an <br />intellectual or developmental disability. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustment. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Barnes, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY RESIDENTIAL <br />SUPPORT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $27,000 FROM THE VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES AND <br />APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2023 BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE <br />SERVICE FUND TO PROVIDE RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS <br />DIAGNOSED WITH AN INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. <br />” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Hugel, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Tillage, Whitaker, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />23 - 210 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />23 - 211 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />• Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $1,365,353 from the <br />Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriating said funds in the FY <br />2023 Grants Fund to provide funding to the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office for the salaries <br />and benefits of eighteen (18) full-time school resource officers. <br /> <br />1.
