<br />July 12, 2022 <br /> <br />22 - 213 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Barnes offered the following nominations: <br /> <br />Appointments for Tonya Chapman, City Manager: <br />Hampton Roads Regional Jail Authority <br />Community Policy & Management Team <br />Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads, Alternate <br />Hampton Roads Planning District Commission <br />Newport Development Authority <br />Southside Network Authority’s Project Committee, Representative <br />Regional Broadband Authority, Member <br /> <br />Regional Broadband Authority <br />Daniel Jones, Chief Information Officer, Alternate <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Dr. Whitaker, to close nominations and <br />the above nominations were adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />22 - 214 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked that information regarding minority contracting be added to public <br /> <br />hearing packages. <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover referenced a report regarding the limitations of the City Manager <br />with regards to enforcing minority contracting. <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked that a presentation be provided at the next Public Work <br />Session. <br /> <br /> Mr. Woodard asked for a report back on providing additional parking on Chestnut <br /> <br />Street and Centre Avenue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Moody spoke on the following: <br /> <br /> Reset Walk in London Oaks. <br />˗ <br /> Maintenance issues in London Oaks. He asked that staff come back with a <br />˗ <br />maintenance history report. <br /> Update on repairs of water towers. <br />˗ <br /> <br /> Mayor Glover spoke on following events: <br /> <br />rdth <br /> 103 Cradock 4 of July Celebration <br />˗ <br /> Baptist Fellowship Association Conference at Renaissance Hotel. <br />˗ <br /> <br />22 - 215 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br />There were no pending items. <br /> <br />22 - 216 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Leon Hammonds, 809 Bouie Court, voiced his concern with the performance of City <br />Council. He also voiced his concern with the hiring process for the City Manager. <br /> <br />2. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, asked that order be maintained during <br /> meetings. He also asked that citizen input be part of the legislative package <br /> process. <br /> <br />3. Maurice Taylor, 3308 Armstead Drive, asked that city policies be changed. <br /> <br />4. Elvira Johnson-Williams, 3313 Armstead Drive, voiced her concern with the timing of <br /> hiring of the new City Manager. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
