April 12, 2022 <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The City Manager will execute and deliver any required documents to effectuate <br />the conveyances. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Mr. Battle, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 2,081 <br />SQUARE FEET OF PROPERTY HAVING AN ADDRESS OF 1227 HOLLAND ROAD IN <br />SUFFOLK AND THE GRANT OF AN ADJACENT TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION <br />EASEMENT ENCOMPASSING APPROXIMATELY 1,750 SQUARE FEET TO THE <br />CITY OF SUFFOLK IN FURTHERANCE OF A CULVERT REHABILITATION <br />PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />the City of Suffolk has requested that the City of Portsmouth convey <br />to it approximately 2,081 square feet of property having an address of 1227 Holland Road <br />in Suffolk; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the City of Suffolk has further requested that the City of Portsmouth <br />grant an adjacent temporary construction easement encompassing approximately 1,750 <br />square feet of 1227 Hollard Road; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the purpose of the conveyances is to permit the City of Suffolk to <br />complete a culvert rehabilitation project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the areas to be conveyed are more particularly shown on that certain <br />Plat Showing Proposed Right-of-Way and Proposed Temporary Construction Easement <br />for the City of Suffolk to be Acquired from the City of Portsmouth prepared by Precision <br />Measurements, Inc., dated January 19, 2022, and attached hereto as Exhibit A; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> improvements to drainage help all Hampton Roads municipalities <br />achieve the goals of preventing flooding and protecting the Chesapeake Bay; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia that it hereby approves and authorizes the conveyance of the requested property <br />interests to the City of Suffolk and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute <br />such documents or instruments as may be necessary or desirable in furtherance of the <br /> <br />intent of this Resolution.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />22 - 116 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br /> <br /> There were no appointments. <br /> <br />22 - 117 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Barnes informed citizens and City Council of the Portsmouth Invitational <br /> <br />Tournament starting Wednesday, April 3, 2022, at Churchland High School. <br /> <br /> Dr. Whitaker asked for an update on the Disparity Study. <br /> <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones provided an update and will also provide a detailed report <br />back. <br /> <br /> Mr. Woodard asked for a report back on work being done by The Miller Group on <br /> <br />McLean Street. <br /> <br /> City Manager Jones will provide that report back. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
