Violation of any of the conditions set forth <br /> <br />herein may serve as grounds for revocation of the use permit by City Council.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager’s Report - <br /> <br />22 - 65 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting Hazmat Response Cost Recovery <br />Funding in the amount of $1,026.16 from the Virginia Department of Emergency <br />Management and appropriating said amount in the FY 2022 Grants Fund for the <br />purpose of maintaining Hazardous Materials Team response capabilities. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) has reimbursed the <br />City of Portsmouth in the amount of $1,026.16 for HAZMAT Response Cost Recovery <br />calls as the Southside Regional HAZMAT Team Leader. <br /> <br /> The funds received enable Portsmouth to maintain a superior level of readiness <br />with regard to equipment, training, and technical expertise in dealing with hazardous <br />materials. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> These funds are instrumental in replenishing hazardous materials for training. <br />Training ensures that the Southside Regional HAZMAT Team will maintain its response <br />capabilities. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> No local match is required as a condition of the funding. Under the program, the taxes paid by these residents remain the same even <br />if the assessed values of their residences increase. The program is subject to City <br />Council appropriation and does not exempt increases due to additions or substantial <br />improvements to the taxpayer’s property. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
