November 9, 2021 <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> A local match is required.The local match is 15.5% and has been previously <br />budgeted as part of the FY 2022 Department of Social Services budget. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the appropriate budget adjustments. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Lucas-Burke, and seconded by Mr. Woodard, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />“ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDING FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />SOCIAL SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,300 AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2022 SOCIAL SERVICES FUND FOR THE FAMILY <br />PARTNERSHIP MEETING INCENTIVE PROGRAM.” <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Battle, Lucas-Burke, Moody, Whitaker, Woodard, Glover <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />21 - 337 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a Bulletproof Vest Partnership <br />Program grant in the amount of $95,445 from the U.S. Department of Justice and <br />appropriating said funds in the FY 2022 Grants Fund Budget for the purchase of <br />bulletproof vests. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> <br /> The Portsmouth Police Department has received grant funding in the amount of <br />$95,445 from the Department of Justice (DOJ) – Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for <br />the purchase of bulletproof vests for the Portsmouth Police Department and Sherriff’s <br />Office personnel. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br /> Bulletproof vests will be purchased with a 50/50 allocation between General Funds <br />(Police and Sherriff’s supply-uniforms budget lines) and the grant funds. The grant will <br />reimburse 50% of the cost expended for the purchase of bulletproof vests. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The required dollar for dollar matching funds are already in the Portsmouth Police <br />Department’s General Fund Uniform line and Sherriff’s Office General Fund budget. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br /> Adoption of the Ordinance <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br /> <br /> <br /> The Finance Department will make the necessary budget adjustment.
