<br />(a) Appointment of City Assessor.
<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Mr. Battle, to appoint Patrick W. Dorris as
<br />City Assessor with a start date of Monday, September 20, 2021, with a salary of $109,000,
<br />and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />

<br />Nays: Lucas-Burke, Moody, Glover
<br />
<br />(b) Adoption of an ordinance to amend Article X of Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia (Planning Commission) by deleting Section 2-528 pertaining to
<br />compensation for Planning Commissioners.
<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Barnes, and seconded by Mr. Battle, to adopt the following
<br />ordinance.
<br />
<br />1. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, P. O. Box 50141, informed City Council of Code Section
<br /> 2-530 which states that members of the Planning Commission shall hold no office of
<br /> profit in city government.
<br />
<br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Lucas-Burke, to defer this item to the
<br />September 28, 2021, City Council meeting to allow for research by Interim City Attorney
<br />Stromberg, and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />(c) Adoption of a resolution authorizing and directing the payment of a stipend to the
<br /> members of certain boards and commissions.
